MONROE COUNTY, Pa. — Officials say a body was recovered from the water in Monroe County.

The call went out for reports of a person in the water near the Delaware Water Gap just before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.

National Park Service officials said a 30-year-old man from New Jersey drowned. His name has not been released.

Investigators said the victim was with a group of people in an area on the New Jersey side of the river that is not designated for swimming.

This is the fourth drowning in the park in just over a month. The first occurred on June 21 when a 20-year-old man drowned while attempting to swim across the Delaware River at Milford Beach; the second occurred on Saturday, July 18, when a 51-year-old tuber slipped out of his inner-tube and under the water. A 32-year-old man lost his life while swimming at Bushkill Access on July 20. None of the victims were wearing life jackets.
