Barktober Fest to benefit furry friends in Lackawanna County

An animal shelter in Lackawanna County is raising money to benefit furry friends and support a new vet clinic and medical fund.

LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — An animal shelter in Lackawanna County is raising money to benefit furry friends.

The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter hosted Barktober Fest at the Maiolatesi Wine Cellar in Scott Township.

Folks could enjoy vendors, music, food trucks, and even pet costume contests, and don’t forget about the adoptable animals.

Sherry Crolly, development director for Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, says, “We'd like to thank our sponsors; without them, we surely couldn't put on an event like this. So, we're really thankful to our sponsors, to the vendors, anyone that wanted to be a part of Barktober Fest today.”

The shelter will use funds raised to support its new vet clinic and medical fund.

The event was from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
