SCOTT, Pa. — You've heard of Oktoberfest...but what about Barktoberfest?
This Sunday, Griffin Pond Animal Shelter is hosting its 3rd annual Barktoberfest at Maiolatesi's Wine Cellars from 12-5pm.
Six-year-old Stephanie is a pitbull mix who currently lives at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter near Clarks Summit.
"She was dumped in South Abington. She's a great dog. She's housebroken. She's good with other dogs. She just wants to be a couch potato," Sherry Crolly said.
There are currently around 250 animals here waiting for their forever homes.
"We're at double capacity. We've been at capacity since January 9th of 2023," Crolly said.
Griffin Pond Animal Shelter is a nonprofit that relies on donations from the community. This Sunday the shelter is hosting its third annual Barktoberfest.
"We have music, food trucks, an ice cream truck, 50 vendors and we have seven sponsors, businesses that sponsored the event," Crolly said.
Barktoberfest is this Sunday from 12-5 at Maiolatesi's Wine Cellars. Well mannered pets are welcome and there will be adoptable dogs from Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
"Come out, shop, maybe do some early Christmas shopping, support your local small businesses, the vendors that will be there," Crolly said.
Tickets are $25 and include two glasses of wine.
