WILKES-BARRE -- Those close to a man killed in Wilkes-Barre two months ago are frustrated, claiming that justice has not been served.

Friends of veteran Bryan Hogan, who was stabbed in his apartment, say they were hoping homicide charges would be filed on Wednesday. That didn't happen.

Matthew Vantine, 27, was in court for a preliminary hearing on charges connected to a robbery in February at a Turkey Hill in Wilkes-Barre.

However, friends of a man killed just before that robbery, came to watch Vantine walk into court for another reason.

"I'd like to see charges brought against him today. That at least is going to be slight closure towards us and his family as well." said Anna Yuhas, a friend of Bryan Hogan.

Yuhas and Lisa Davies came to Vantine's court appearance, hoping murder charges would be filed.

It's been two months since the D.A.'s office called him a suspect in the death of Bryan Hogan.

Police say they found Vantine with blood on his socks and a bloody folded blade after Hogan was killed. He was stabbed in his apartment on Coal Street in Wilkes-Barre, during the time Vantine was staying with him.

"I was hoping that he would be charged with Bryan's murder but unfortunately that didn't happen. Obviously there are still things going on with the investigation." said Lisa Davies, another friend of Bryan Hogan's.

The Luzerne County District Attorney's office declined to comment on if or when Vantine would be charged. The D.A. would only say this is still an active investigation.

"I just want justice for Bryan he didn't deserve it. We are not going to rest until justice is served," Davies said.

"We will be at every hearing that Matthew Vantine has, just so that we can see justice be brought. He definitely did not deserve this," Yuhas added.
