PENNSYLVANIA, USA — This wintry week has offered us a little bit of everything we've come to expect this time of year in northeastern and central Pennsylvania.
Market Street in Lewisburg looks like it was made for snow, but clearing sidewalks in the borough's business district has become a habit this January.
We've seen more snow this winter than we have in a few years still, the people here are made for it too.
"A little bit (annoying)," Mark Boyer said. "It's Pennsylvania, it's Lewisburg. Lots of years, we're used to it."
In Northumberland County, Shamokin saw a bit more snow. Some pulled out the heavy equipment for the clean-up job. For others, just a broom was plenty to clear away three inches.
To the east, it was more of the same in downtown Mount Pocono. Heavily traveled roads like Route 611 were wet and slushy. The side roads, though, were a different story. The snow made for some slick conditions in some neighborhoods.
In Hazleton, whether it's a nuisance snow like this one or a blizzard, PennDOT crews have to work.
"We were here; guys were out since midnight. And we'll stay here until it's over. And if we have to, we'll bring them in the next day," Joe Zawatski said.
This one wasn't too hard to stay on top of, but many schools across our area still opted to close or hold virtual days. The maintenance staff were the only ones on campus in the Hazleton Area School District and were also trying to stay on top of the snowfall.
Antonia Rodriguez says as long as you dress for the weather, it's not too bad. Many hands made light work.
The sidewalks will be clear for the students come Monday. The Stormtracker 16 team says it'll be warmer by then.
