Thousands in the dark after storm

Many homes and businesses are still without power a day after the storms rolled through

PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Utility crews were hard at work throughout the day, working to restore power to thousands of homes and businesses.

Still, many are without power a day after storms rolled through Luzerne County.

Generators were out and running throughout many neighborhoods around Mountain Top.

This outage along South Main Road in Wright Township was caused from a tree falling on wires.

Trees were also causing some problems in Wyoming County-

After one crushed this garage along route 6 in Tunkhannock Township. No word if anyone was hurt.

In Lackawanna County gusts of wind- uprooted trees near some homes in newton township...

The wind also whipped through the Clarks Summit area taking down the Chipotle restaurant sign, which landed along Northern Boulevard.

The golden arches of McDonalds were swept up in the fast-food chain's parking lot after it was damaged from the wind there.

As thousands are still without power- some people who had no access to lights or water ended up taking advantage of the generosity of Ado Salon.

The stylists washed hair for free for those still without power.

"It's so nice to know that people are offering help and everything. It's really nice to know when you need to shower and go places." said Jessica Ellis

Crews are still working to restore services to many of those homes and businesses still without power tonight--

According to the PP&L website, some of those repair times may be as late as 11pm or into Friday afternoon.
