MOSCOW, Pa. — Even after a home loss to Wallenpaupack-North Pocono still controls their own destiny in Lackawanna League play. A Division champion won't be crowned for another 6 weeks. Plenty of time to turn things around for the Trojans.
"Obviously losing Zach and DeMarco over the last year it was tough, but we have kids that have stepped up. They have made the changes that they need to. They fill the roles very well and we are rolling right now,"said Ryan.
"It was tough because we lost two of our bigger scorers, but we've had some guys step up nicely and fill the roles. And I feel like we are much more of a defensive orientated team this year. So our scorers we are only letting up around 40 point per game. So it's good," said Billy.
"In Distrcit II (5A) the teams are loaded from top to bottom. Sitting at the top right now is North Pocono, followed by Abington Heights, Pittston Area, Wallenpaupack, West Scranton, Crestwood who won it last year, Tunkhannock, Valley View and and Wyoming Valley West. All these teams could contend for a district championship.
"Last year I wasn't really doing much. Came off the bench in a couple of games. This year my job is to take over for some of the scorers. So I have been primarily getting some of the perimeter shots and looking to drive and kick a lot since people are overplaying me on the perimeter," said AJ.
"It is going to take the same amount of hard work and dedication and sticking to our principles and really trying to get it on the defensive end. That is kind of our identity," said Tommy.
The faithful fans waited 20 years between league championships. Noting is guaranteed. Every victory at this level is earned.
"I have been close to all of them pretty much my whole life, and it was definitely good to come in and win the league with them," said Chris.
"Yeah we have some real athletes here on this team and it is fun to play with them. You know there's really never a dull moment," added Tommy.
