WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — In game action at the collegiate level Lacy Eckard's play jumps off the screen.
Going the Division III route, the former Muncy Indian star chose to stay local and play with the Lycoming Warriors.
Eckard has quickly made a name for herself. Lacy set the school record for most goals and most points scored in a single game in a 6-0 win against Keuka College, scoring 5 goals and getting 10 total points.
Eckard also leads the Landmark conference in goals scored with 8! She was also named the D-3 Offensive Player of the Week by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
"It was really cool. Definitely a team effort. I mean, I stand there and tap it in so they have to get all the way up the field. But yeah, we're focused on playing to win as a team and it definitely paid off," Eckard said.
Nearly half of the girls on the team are freshman. They are young but that doesn't matter to Coach Allison Kenyon. It's all hands on deck at this level.
It includes names like Eckard, Jordyn Keffer, Riley Hackett, and Central Columbia grad, Maggie Campbell.
"So exciting. We're already doing so good and it's so fun. I really enjoy it and it's just great to be on the team," Eckard said.
"I think they accent the returning players really, really well. They definitely filled in some depth that we needed," Kenyon said.
This season is only the third back for the field hockey program at like common College after a 30 year hiatus. Coach Kenyon is pleased with how her team has grown in just those three years.
"People are buying into what we're trying to build here and what our team culture is and I think that's really the exciting part of it," said Kenyon.
This train in rolling down the tracks and on pace for a championship run .Everyone at Lyco is excited about the present and the future of this program here in Billtown.
