NASCAR Driver Sage Karam reflects on fatherhood

The Nazareth native and his wife welcomed their first child in May and Karam loves making racing memories with him, especially at his home track, Pocono Raceway.

LONG POND, Pa. — Sage Karam, raced in the Craftsman truck series last Friday at Pocono Raceway and it was a bit more special than his last time here.

Karam was joined by his family, including his 6 week old son, Jettson, on pit road ahead of the race.

This was baby Karam's second race, but Sage says this weekend made it a bit extra special so close to home.

Karam didn't have quite the outcome at Pocono, finishing the CRC Brakleen 175 in 33rd, but still came out of the weekend with good memories.

"I remember standing there before the race started in Chicago and I had him in my arms for the national anthem.  I looked at my wife and said I've always wanted to do this, be able to bring him to a race, stand on the grid with him.  I remember being a little kid and my dad taking me to races to go watch and it just brought back a lot of memories and just something I've always wanted to do.  Just being there with him, hopefully I'm his favorite driver.  I don't know.  He can't talk or anything yet obviously but his mom still told him that I won so that was good," Karam said.
