Keystone and Penn State wrestlers team up to host youth wrestling clinic

Two wrestlers who grew up together reunite to host the clinic

LA PLUME, Pa. — Youth camps and clinics are a summer time staple.

Keystone college senior, Quinton Frampton, came up with the idea of hosting a youth wrestling clinic at the college as a way to give back to the kids, and as a way to connect with an old friend.

"You know I went up to coach Feldman and I was like hey, I have this idea to run this wrestling clinic with Karl Shindledecker, one of the wrestlers I grew up with in my home town, and I thought it was a great opportunity to have youth kids come here and come wrestle at this clinic," said Frampton.

"It's awesome, I always love coming out, helping the new generation of wrestlers - it's amazing. I kind of expect to be doing this hopefully for the rest of my life," said Shindledecker.

Shindledecker and Frampton were also joined by Penn State senior, David Evans. Keystone head wrestling coach, Andrew Feldman, has a relationship that goes back years with Evans, as they the wrestling circle in the Tunkhannock area isn't to large. Evans is one of Penn State's top guys. The Tunkhannock native is a 2x PIAA state qualifier.

"I love the one on one," said Evans. "It's hard, you push yourself in how hard you work. Everybody's got the same opportunity in the sport so I think that's what's great about it."

"I mean they're still young. Even now in our wrestling room they'll praise- just have fun with the sport and enjoy it, so like I said, when I'm teaching the kids moves it's always nice to see them smiling, laughing, having fun, so that's what the sport's really about," Evans added.
