Dallas wins District II 'AAAA' championship with win over Scranton Prep

The championship game at PNC Field featured a pitching duel and it all came down to the final out of the 9th inning with a walk-off hit from Jack Leandri.

MOOSIC, Pa. — PNC Field was the site for the District II 4A baseball championship between Scranton Prep and Dallas.

This game was a pitching duel. Prep's John Petrosky strikes out Dominic Zangardi with one man on to end the threat in the 4th.

Top of 5, Dallas pitcher Sam Barrouk in a jam with bases loaded... Matthew Kalinowski flies out to left... still no score.

Bottom of the 7th, bases loaded, Jack Leandri with the biggest hit of the game, hits a liner to right scoring the only run of the night. The Mountaineers mob their hero.

It's a 1-0 win and Dallas repeats as 4A District Champs.

"I wasn't trying to feel the moment too much.  Coach V always says to hit the ball hard on the ground and that's what I was trying to do and that's what I did.  It's just amazing.  The best feeling ever. I saw that ball go through and saw the run score and it was just amazing," said Leandri.

"He's been clutch all year for us and I knew when they walked JJ, he was the right guy in that situation.  I'm so proud of him.  He deserves it.  We've been having close games all year so we're used to these, but sometimes you want to have games not like this, but I'm so proud of the guys.  They worked so hard for this and I'm proud of them," said Head Coach Mike Viglone.
