Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' CEO Barrett on AHL "Return to Play" Task Force

Barrett One of 13 Members of New Committee

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Chief Executive Officer Jeff Barrett is on the AHL's newly constructed "Return to Play" Task Force.

"Our priority is to play as many games as early as possible, but only in an environment that's going to be safe for the fans and for the players," Barrett said in an interview over Webex. "We're going to have the most up-to-date information and we'll work with what we have and come up with the best solution for everybody. When you look at the group on the task force, you have a lot of NHL GM's, a lot of high-profile NHL GM's. We are their future. They know that the American Hockey League has to be in operation not just for next year, but for years two, three, four years down the line. To be part of that, it's good for the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania because I'm going to be there to look out for their interests and to make sure that we do everything we can to get hockey playing here, but again - I want to emphasize - in a safe environment."
