Super 16 Team #2 Troy Trojans

Troy returns seven starters on each side of the ball after going 12-1 in 2023.

TROY, Pa. — The Trojans were 12-0 last season before running into the eventual AA State Champions in Southern Columbia. The team is returning seven starters on each side of the ball, including quarterback Evan Woodward.

Woodward returns for his third season as the starting slinger and his fourth as a safety. Mason Smith and Brendan Gilliland offer first downs and touchdowns out of the backfield, but the Trojans are built inside out.

“Our linemen are the most important part of our team, and they're treated as such,” said head coach, Jim Smith. “We understand that on both sides of the ball that if we can dominate the line, we have a chance of winning the football game.”

The Trojans believe they can hang with teams like Southern Columbia this time around.

“We're not going to back down from anyone… we're willing to play anybody,” said senior defensive lineman, Eason Teribury. “We'll do what it takes to get to the top.”

“A lot of our juniors who are seniors now played in that game and they had an opportunity to see how close they really were with a team that ended up winning the state championship and with that comes some lofty expectations, but I don't think we can be afraid to fail,” said Smith.
