UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State’s name and blue and white will be on Jeff Gordon’s car when he races at the Pocono Raceway in June.
The NASCAR superstar was at Penn State’s main campus Tuesday afternoon to unveil the design of his car for the “Axalta ‘We Paint Winners’ 400” at Pocono Raceway June 7. The Penn State name on Gordon’s car for that race is meant to represent a new partnership with PSU and Axalta. That company does the coating on Gordon’s number 24 car and other cars for the Hendrick Motorsports Team.
Penn State officials say 100 students will be at Pocono the weekend of the June NASCAR race to see and learn first-hand Axalta’s role in racing. The students will tour garages, learn the engineering, and dine with Axalta executives.
After the car was introduced, Gordon took it on a ride to the famous Penn State Creamery.
Axalta bills itself as the “leading global provider of liquid and powder coatings to automotive, transportation, general industrial, architectural and decorative customers.”
