Show Begins His Coaching Career With The Comets

JC joins many local coaches that have come back to coach at their alma mater

CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. — It didn't take long for the Abington Heights School District to replace legendary head coach Kenny Bianchi and his 894 career wins. 613 of them are coming in the last 28 seasons in Clarks Summit. Stepping into the new role is former player and 2014 "Mr. Basketball" in PA and Gatorade Player of the Year JC Show.

“I said I didn't necessarily want to get into coaching, but I wanted to coach at Abington Heights. This place means a lot to me. This got me started in my basketball journey and to have the opportunity to help other kids from my hometown-that go to my school that help them along in their journey as well. It is something that means a great deal to me and that is why I am here,” said JC.

Show inherits a team that lost 3 starters and finished (26-1) losing to Imhotep Charter in the "5A" State Quarterfinals. Jordan Shaffer and Robbie Lucas bring back experience and leadership. Show just needs to fill in the rest of the lineup with the newest Comet.

“That is a great thing about players right? The players play. It will be tough I'm sure at times where I can't go out there and play anymore, but it’s not really about me once the game starts. I have to put the kids in the best position for them to be successful at their strengths and weaknesses. So, I will figure that out and I will find my lane as far as how to coach,” again said JC.

Show finished with 1,950 career points and was a 3x All State performer. His college basketball career involved stops in Lewisburg at Bucknell and then up to Binghamton, but he never forgot his roots and where it all started.

“I am standing here today because of the lessons that I learned playing and playing basketball for Coach Bianchi and Coach McLane and so it's the least that I can do to make sure that I pass that on to the next generation,” again said JC.

Right now the slate is clean and time to prepare as Show embarks on the next chapter in his basketball career.
