Volunteers help out non-profits while ensuring visitors and athletes don't go hungry during the Little League World Series

Newswatch 16's Mackenzie Aucker caught up with some volunteers working the concession stands.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — One of the best parts of taking in a baseball game is a trip to the concession stands.

Megan Mengel is one of many volunteers at the Little League World Series, dishing up food and drinks this week. Mengel is volunteering with her sorority, Alpha Sigma Tau.

Volunteers from Lock Haven University will get to take home a small percentage of what they sell.

"We're gonna use that to go towards our philanthropy; we support roads to peace, a women's shelter in downtown Lock Haven, and we will also be using for shirt money," said Megan Mengel, Alpha Sigma Tau Lock Haven University.

This is Mengel's first time volunteering at the Little League World Series. She tells us it's awesome to see all of the different cultures.

"Even just different Americans because everyone from all over the country's here, so it's awesome to see everyone come together for the same cause."

Treyson Green is a baseball player at Lycoming College who is entering his junior year. He and his teammates are also volunteering their time at the concession stand to help out the baseball program.

"So it relates towards us tremendously whether it's hotel rooms, gear, jerseys, like the nicer hotel rooms too, so the difference of a double bedroom or a single bedroom where our starting pitcher has to sleep on the floor something like that compared to a nice bed so it's really lucky, so we're very grateful," said Treyson Green, junior Lycoming College baseball player.

Not only is Green helping out the baseball program, he's also acting as a role model for the little leaguers.

"Now being here is really funny when kids come up to us asking for like autographs or anything like that—like a couple of us have last year given people autographed balls, and then people are like, oh you guys play college baseball, could we get a hat, could we get a jersey, a shirt so it's really cool and it's really like a really good feeling to be able to help them out and everything like that too and then just being a part of their life too," said Green.

Volunteers will be here until the end of the tournament.
