SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Walk around downtown Williamsport, and you'll notice many businesses have signs in the windows welcoming athletes, families, and coaches for the Little League World Series.
At the Brickyard Restaurant and Ale House, owner Tony Ecker extends the restaurant's hours during the tournament to bring in more business.
"The games typically run late into the evening, and families and refs and coaches all wanna be able to eat afterward so we keep our kitchens open until 11, midnight waiting for—waiting for the families to show up," said Tony Ecker, owner of Brickyard Restaurant and Ale House
The restaurant also features specialty burgers and pizzas that just so happen to be baseball-themed!
"My restaurants are more family oriented so we tend to see teams, just last night the—when the Texas team won they showed up at the stonehouse with—what turned into 42 of them for a big team dinner afterwards," said Ecker.
For baseball fans with a sweet tooth, Sprinkled Sweet Artisan Bakery and Creamery along Pine Street has you covered.
"We're offering ice cream flights this year. You get to choose six different scoops of ice cream, which comes with a topping and waffle chips, and then we also do baseball hats; the boys and kids can come in and get a scoop of their favorite ice cream in a baseball hat," said Aimee Hertwig, owner of Sprinkled Sweet.
During the second week of the tournament, the creamery will also be serving delicious Little League-themed treats.
"So we do grand slam brownies, grand slam cupcakes we're offering this year, and then we also do a grand slam ice cream, and it's a little bit of everything in the bakery, so it's chocolate chips, M&M's graham crackers, marshmallows caramel, a little bit of everything," said Hertwig.
Both businesses say the city of Williamsport comes alive during the tournament.
