SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — 20 teams from the United States and all over the world are competing in the Little League World Series. It's a surreal feeling for some athletes seeing the complex in South Williamsport for the first time.
"The stadium that we're gonna play on we have a good view from our like grove and it's pretty fun just like thinking about it," said Emili Anonepomucno, Great Lakes.
Little leaguers tell Newswatch 16 it's a dream come true being here and seeing all of the facilities and fans right here in South Williamsport.
"I made all stars the first time I was 10 and i just saw the 12 year olds trying to make the little league world series and it's just been a dream of mine since I was 10 years old," said Peter Giaccio, Metro.
"I'm just so accomplished that like we made it this far and we did all of this. We've been together for a lot of years now; this is my dream, and now we're finally here," said Rocco Dabronzo, Mid-Atlantic.
Some players only traveled a few hours to get to the Little League World Series. For others, like team Australia, it took over a day! The team from Sydney traveled about 30 hours from home to get to South Williamsport. It's their first time experiencing a different culture and climate.
"It's also really hot here, because in Australia it's winter right now, but this is like really cool," Finn Kennedy, Australia.
"It's just a great time being here; all my teammates are having fun, and we're just meeting other players and having a great time," said Dabronzo.
All of these teams have one goal: to be a Little League World Series Champion.
