Cuban coach disappears from Little League World Series for second consecutive year

Little League officials say Carlos Cesar Martinez left the grounds of the Little League International Complex in South Williamsport on August 24 and did not return.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — It's a mystery that continues for the second straight year at the Little League World Series in Lycoming County.

A Little League coach from the Santa Clara, Cuba team is missing.

Little League officials say Carlos J. Cesar Martinez left the grounds of the Little League International Complex in South Williamsport on the night of August 24 and did not return.

On August 26, all remaining team members, coaches, and Cuban Baseball Federation officials arrived home safely in Santa Clara, according to Little League International.

In August of 2023, Jose Perez, another coach from a Cuban team, left the complex during the competition and never returned.

The whereabouts of both Cesar Martinez and Perez remain unknown.
