Dairy diorama | 2024 PA Farm Show butter sculpture unveiled

The artwork depicts families at the dinner table sharing local food with a city and farmland backdrop.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — State officials revealed this year's butter sculpture Thursday morning at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.

The artwork "Table for All" depicts families at the dinner table sharing local food with a city and farmland backdrop.

The unveiling of the 1,000-pound artwork is the traditional start of what is billed as Pennsylvania's state fair.

Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, dairy farmer Walt Moore of Walmoore Holsteins in Cochranville, Pa., and butter sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton were on hand for the festivities.

The half-ton of butter was donated by the Land O’Lakes plant in Carlisle, Pa.

This is the 33rd butter sculpture at the Farm Show.

The sculpture will remain on display at the complex throughout the event. After the farm show, the butter will be used for energy at a facility in Juniata County.

The farm show's preview day is Friday, and the full schedule of events begins Saturday.
