YORK COUNTY, Pa. — WellSpan York Hospital is going the extra mile to make baby's first-holiday one to remember for families.
Staff in the Level Three Neonatal Intensive Care Unit dressed their smallest patients in costumes for Halloween. One of the doctors says it's something that's extra special for families learning to navigate a premature birth.
"That stimulation for their brain is critical for their development, especially for our premature babies. So their theme this year was reading," said Dr. Michael Goodstein. "I think it's just an opportunity to have a joyous moment when things can be very challenging in life."
The creative costumes were inspired by children's books like "Clifford," "Winnie the Pooh" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs."
