SCRANTON, Pa. — President Joe Biden has touched down at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.
Air Force One landed soon after noon. Trucks began blocking access to Interstate 81 around the same time. Newswatch 16's Jack Culkin is at the airport.
The White House has said that Biden is visiting his childhood hometown today for "political engagements." Voters are set to decide Tuesday who will succeed him as the nation's 47th chief executive — Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump.
Biden last visited Scranton in September to attend the funeral of childhood friend and lifelong city resident Thomas Bell Sr. However, this is Biden's first campaign-related visit since he announced in July his withdrawal from the race, setting up his vice president's nomination to lead the Democratic ticket.
