FACTORYVILLE, Pa. — The colors of the leaves have turned from green to shades of red, orange, and yellow. Some of those leaves cover the ground. All signs point to the seasons changing, but the temperatures this week are feeling a little warm for fall.
"I was ready to put away all my like short sleeve shirts, my shorts, but maybe this week. We'll see some of that come back out," said Keystone College student Monika Buczek.
The Keystone College Eco Club scheduled its fall cleanup on campus and around town in Factoryville. Organizers say they usually have a smaller turnout for this one, but that wasn't a problem this time.
Volunteers say this time of year is too beautiful to waste a good view on garbage.
"I was in Boy Scouts in the past, and it made me appreciate community service, and I just like to help people out," said Keystone College student Jason McMillan.
"No one likes seeing trash on the side of the road, so it feels good picking it up, and it looks better, you know, keeps our state clean," said Keystone College student Damien Space.
Some of these volunteers say the warm day pushed them outdoors to lend a hand while getting some fresh air. A nice day is always a welcome day, especially as the winter months creep closer.
"Honestly, I would have done it in the rain and the cold anyway, but it definitely makes it a lot nicer," said Space.
We found many others spending the day outdoors.
Lorna Engler was doing some gardening in her yard in Factoryville. Lorna says she hasn't had the opportunity lately with the cold, rainy weather, but there was another reason why she was snipping away.
"I'm getting my frustrations out from the Phillies losing. I'm kind of in a depression," joked Engler.
But it might be hard to stay depressed in the warm sunshine, however long it lasts.
