WYOMING COUNTY, Pa. — UPDATE:

Power has been restored to those affected by the outages Sunday.

Original Story:

A power outage on Sunday affected thousands of homes and businesses in Wyoming and Susquehanna counties.

According to the Claverack outage map, more than 4,000 homes and businesses did not have power as of the early afternoon.

A post on Claverack's Facebook page indicates the power disruption is "due to power supplier issues."

The post explains that Penelec stopped providing power to five Claverack substations, including one in the Meshoppen area.

Claverack says Penelec is trying to figure out the problem.

Claverack says they don't know when power will be restored.

A spokesperson for Penelec told Newswatch 16 that crews are actively working to fix the problem.

Penelec did not have an estimate of when repairs will be complete.

Again, those power outages affect customers in Wyoming and Susquehanna counties.

This is a developing story; please check back for updates.
