The Guthrie Clinic is taking over a closed health care facility in Wyoming County.
The former Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock Township closed earlier this year and was bought by a Wyoming County businessman.
The Guthrie Clinic announced the expansion on Monday, saying it will expand its primary-care services and relocate to the former Tyler Memorial Hospital location.
At the time of the closure in August, the new owners—the Ruark family, through their Family Limited Partnership—said negotiations were underway with a health care system to operate the urgent care facility.
Guthrie says the multi-phase move to the former hospital, beginning in early 2024, will allow it to offer a wide range of essential outpatient medical services, including primary care, preventive care, walk-in care, and technology-enabled specialty consults.
The Guthrie Clinic is a five-hospital system with a network of outpatient facilities in Pennsylvania and upstate New York.
