FACTORYVILLE -- A bigger grocery store and more parking are just some of the things officials would like to use grant money on in part of Wyoming County.
After more than five years of grant applications, Factoryville is getting some extra cash.
The borough in Wyoming County is approved for a $1 million grant to help revitalize the area's downtown.
"As soon as we can get our feet running, we're very excited and wanted to get started as soon as we can," said borough grant writer Sadie Rozenburg.
Robert Davis, who has lived in Factoryville for more than 50 years, is excited to see what the borough will do with the grant money.
"It would be good for the people. It would be good for the economy. It will bring more work to town and we definitely need more work in town," Davis said.
One of the things the borough plans to do with that money is to expand Ray's Market. The owner says he hopes to triple the store size and also expand the parking lot.
"Right now, we're very excited, shocked to hear it, but very excited about it," Ray Petty said.
"We have people from all over, Nicholson, Fleetville, Factoryville, Clinton Township, coming to his grocery store and he needs more space," explained Rozenburg.
"I think it's good because there's no store between here to Tunkhannock and Clarks Summit and I come here often," said Nicholson resident Dorris Smith.
That's just one part of the plan. In total, the $5 million project will create what the borough calls "the Factoryville Market Village" on College Avenue, which will also expand the bank on the street and create new parking spots downtown.
The owner of Ray's Market says the project could bring 20 new jobs to his store alone and he can't wait.
"I'd like to see it happen yesterday, but it's not going to happen yesterday. Now we have to look at what we're going to do," Petty said.
