WYOMING COUNTY, Pa. — A convicted murderer from Wyoming County will receive a new trial for the 2019 death of his girlfriend.
Phillip Walters was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2019 death of Hayley Lorenzen.
A jury found Walters guilty of murdering Lorenzen and dumping her body in the Susquehanna River near Tunkhannock.
Earlier this week, the state Supreme Court ordered a new trial for Walters following an appeal that focused on the testimony of a forensic pathologist.
No date has been set for the re-trial.
