Wild weather taking down trees, power lines

Check the power outage maps here.

High winds blowing through our area are knocking down trees and taking down power lines.

On Jackson Road, a tree came down onto utility lines right outside a home. Luckily, the tree wasn't tall enough to damage the home and the people There said they still had power, but still UGI was there to assess and do what needed to be done.

On Meeker Road in Lehman Township police tell us several trees were down on Meeker causing most of it to be closed until crews could get there. We noticed when power lines were involved, they were not cleared as quickly as trees or branches on the road. Those could be cleared by fire departments and Good Samaritans in many cases we would follow a call for a tree down and it would be cleared away by the time we got there.

On Broad Street in Pittston, we found crews from the DPW cutting up a tree that the wind had brought down.

On Gravity Street in Pittston, two vehicles parked at Mitchell Lumber and Fuel Oil were damaged when a tree fell on them. No one was hurt, but the vehicles were badly damaged.
