WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. — A 21-year-old woman from Dingmans Ferry died after a crash on I-84 in Wayne County Friday evening.
State police say Mackenzie Lawlor was driving west near Sterling Township just before 10 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle at a curve in the road. Her vehicle spun several times before hitting the guard rail on the right shoulder of the road.
Lawlor was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle at some point while it was spinning. She was thrown into the right westbound lane. The extent of her injuries at this point is not known.
Moments later, a driver traveling west on I-84 in the left lane came across the scene, where witnesses had stopped to help. While braking and merging into the right lane, the vehicle struck Lawlor where she lay in the road.
Wayne County Coroner Edward Howell pronounced Lawlor dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that hit Lawlor was not injured. They remained at the scene and were not charged.
The westbound lanes of I-84 were closed for about three hours following the crash.
