Police say Thomas Gannon, 56, died by suicide at his home in Berlin Township after confessing to murdering Sabina Rosas, 33, in Suffolk County, New York.
Authorities there were investigating Gannon for his alleged involvement in Rosas’ death prior to his suicide.
ABC7 New York reported on the murder, “Police called to this quiet resort here on Montauk highway in Watermill, Shou Sugi Ban House, on its website it bills itself as 'the only comprehensive wellness program in the Hamptons,'" said Stacey Sager, ABC7 New York.
The relationship between Gannon and Rosas is unclear, with some saying they were in a romantic relationship, and others saying they had only a professional one. ABC7 New York spoke to Rosas' best friend.
"I think one time I asked her 'where'd you meet that guy that helped you move in," she jokingly made a pass, 'I met him at a grocery store,' I was like 'ok got it', I didn't think anything of it," said Rosas' best friend.
According to investigators, Gannon returned back to Berlin Township from the Hamptons on Monday.
Newswatch16's Courtney Harrison interviewed Gannon back in 2020 for a story about a castle he was building in Wayne County for group events.
ABC7 New York reports the victim’s family members released a statement, saying, "We are devastated by this senseless loss and ask for privacy as we navigate this incredibly difficult time."
