WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. — A 37-year-old man was badly hurt in a hit-and-run in Wayne County.

State police at Honesdale say the crash that caused serious injuries to Brandon Marsh of Starucca happened Thursday just before 5 p.m. near the New York border.

Marsh had been traveling on the Hancock Highway in Buckingham Township near the village of Starlight when he came across a tree blocking the road.

Marsh got out of his car and tried to move the downed tree. However, another vehicle driving the other way didn't stop in time and hit the tree.

The tree, as a result, slammed into Marsh and into the 2016 Subaru Forester he and a woman, Katerine Huppunen, 32, were driving.

The driver of the vehicle that collided with the tree said he was going for help and left the scene. He did not come back.

That offending vehicle is a Honda sedan, possibly an Accord, made between 2003 and 2007. It is thought to be a silver color and will have front-end damage.

There is no word yet on Marsh's condition.

Anyone with information on the hit and run is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police Honesdale at (570) 253-7126.
