PROMPTON STATE PARK -- Water skiers were doing it without skis at Prompton State Park in Wayne County.
The Eastern Regional Barefoot Water Ski Tournament was held at the lake on Saturday.
Skiers competed in three events: jumping, tricks, and slalom, where they had to cross the boat's wake as much as they could.
Competitors from 10 states made the trip to Wayne County for the second year in a row. They said it is not as easy as it looks.
"It's very hard. It takes a lot of work, a lot of practice, and the falls are hard. They're skiing at 42-45 mph and when they fall it hurts," said John Martines of Newton Lake.
About half a dozen skiers will advance to the national championships in Wisconsin.
