BROWNDALE, Pa. — Someone broke into unlocked vehicles earlier this week in Wayne County and then tried to make a pricey purchase at a Walmart using stolen credit cards, state police said.
On Thursday morning, two Browndale men reported they discovered their SUVs had been rummaged through and their wallets had been stolen. The SUVs were parked on Main Street and Marion Street.
The crook then tried to use credit cards lifted from those purloined wallets to make a $528.94 purchase at Walmart in Dickson City. The transaction declined.
Troopers from the Honesdale barracks said the two victims were targeted because they left their vehicles unlocked.
Investigators are working to find the person responsible.
Anyone with information can contact the Honesdale barracks.
