Two dead after dump truck crash in Wayne County

The crash happened along Purdytown Turnpike in Palmyra Township around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. — Two people are dead after a crash at a construction plant Wednesday morning in Wayne County.

Officials say Brian Edwards, 51, of Honesdale, was driving a dump truck at Wayco, Inc. Quarry and Asphalt Plant in Palmyra Township around 11:30 a.m. when he suffered a suspected medical emergency and fell unconscious, causing the dump truck to roll backward and hit James Martzen, 72, of Waymart. 

Martzen and Edwards died as a result.

Autopsies for both men are scheduled for Friday.

The deadly crash remains under investigation in Wayne County.
