PENNSYLVANIA, USA — The first signs of the winter season have reached some areas in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The farther north you drive, the clearer those signs are.
Some hunting enthusiasts in Wayne County welcome the snow.
"I like it. You can track the deer, see them coming a lot easier," said John Furry of Maryland.
"Yeah, we can track them in the snow, you know what I mean? Track the deer feet, dead. It's nice," added Ron Frisby of Maryland.
For those living in Honesdale, which is expected to see some of the larger amounts in our region, the snow is something to get ready for.
"With Thanksgiving coming, then the forecast, you know it was already going to be busy, and now people are nervous about the snow and not being able to get out on Friday. So we've seen an influx of people coming in the store," said Mike Flederbach, Dave's Super Duper Supermarket owner.
Some people are already prepared.
"The machine's all gassed up and ready to go, and yeah, been there, done that," said Scott Bennett of Honesdale.
Others are hoping to get snowed in.
"It's fun not to have school because I get to stay home and sleep in or shovel. I like shoveling," said Aiden Scott of Honesdale.
"Maybe when more snow comes, I'm probably like going to sled with my brother and friends," said Bryson Young of Honesdale.
Many of Honesdale's Department of Public Works members resigned in March this year. We contacted Honesdale DPW, and they told Newswatch 16 that while they're still not fully staffed, outside contractors will help keep Honesdale's roads clear.
