CLINTON TOWNSHIP -- The fall scenery brought folks out on Saturday to a pond in Wayne County that is being drained by the state.
Newswatch 16 was first to tell you about the plan to drain White Oak and Miller ponds this month.
Now the water is rushing out of the dam at White Oak Pond near Waymart.
Folks who live near the pond stopped by Saturday to see it before the water levels are drastically lowered.
The state says the dam here and the dam at Miller Pond need repairs.
Jim Parker of Clinton Township bought his retirement home here and will miss the natural beauty.
"My best memories are canoeing the pond, kayaking out there, fishing, and generally watching the life on the lake," said Parker.
According to the Fish and Boat Commission, both dams will cost more than $6 million to repair and 6 years to complete them before the ponds could be refilled in Wayne County.
