SOUTH CANAAN TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A state police bomb squad is looking into a blast at a home near Honesdale after a man allegedly set off what appears to be a pipe bomb and wound up putting himself in critical condition.
State police tell Newswatch 16 Alan Boguski, 55, set off the alleged pipe bomb at his home in South Canaan Township and a piece of shrapnel went into his back.
Troopers say they recovered several incendiary devices from the home.
State police cannot say whether these devices are in fact bombs yet because they have not been tested.
Officers were called to the home around 3:30 p.m. Thursday after Boguski's girlfriend alerted police that he was hurt in what appeared to be a pipe bomb explosion. The girlfriend then allegedly told police there were more bombs in the home.
Boguski is listed in critical condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
State police say that while Boguski has not been charged with anything yet, charges may be coming after the explosion in Wayne County.
