HAWLEY, Pa. — Christmas trees are spread out inside the Hawley Hub on Main Avenue in Hawley, but these aren't your normal Christmas decorations. These trees showcase a charity or cause.
Tiffany Hoffman with the Hawley Downtown Partnership is behind the idea. Trying to combine all that Christmas offers and trying to give back, she came up with Trees for a Cause.
"There's just so many ways that we can help and this is the giving time of year, you know everybody loves to give a gift of some sort, so you can help these causes out in multiple ways," said Hoffman.
This year, there are seven trees in total. Each one represents a local or national organization, and you can donate to your favorite one.
"You can then vote for that tree based upon a donation of any denomination, whether it's a dollar. However you want to do it, you can give a donation. We have a little donation box right here you can put in cash or check to there, or you can vote via PayPal," said Hoffman.
The charity that receives the most donations will also get an additional donation from the Hawley Downtown Partnership.
Hoffman hopes people will come out and show their support for the charities chosen by the community.
"You'll see underneath each tree, there's some information about the causes. I've learned about things I didn't even know existed and how people have created these organizations to help others. To find out, maybe it might be near and dear to your heart, and maybe you're about to help out," said Hoffman.
