National Weather Service confirms tornado touched down in Wayne County

Officials with the National Weather Service have confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in West Damascus in Wayne County around 6:20 p.m. Monday.

WAYNE COUNTY, Pa. — The National Weather Service has now confirmed a second tornado touched down in northeastern Pennsylvania on Monday.

Officials say an EF-1 tornado blew through West Damascus in Wayne County shortly after 6 p.m. Monday with maximum wind speeds up to 90 mph. Meteorologists say the details of the twister are still being finalized.

Viewer photos from Matt and Beth Salzameda show trees toppled over and a roof ripped off of a barn in Tyler Hill.

An EF-1 tornado was also confirmed in Mahanoy City in Schuylkill County. That tornado knocked down trees and caused overnight power outages.
