Annual Farmer's Appreciation Day held in Wayne County

The 5th annual Farmer's Appreciation Day event was held at the Waymart Historical Museum on Saturday.

WAYMART, Pa. — Saturday wasn’t just another day on the farm in Wayne County.

The Waymart Area Historical Society played host to its annual Farmer’s Appreciation Day.

The historical society’s South Street building provided the backdrop for local producers to sell their wares while families check out some of farm equipment of yesteryear.

A few cows from a local farm also attended and ended up getting a good bit of attention from some of the younger farmhands.

According to the society, paying homage to the trade is the purpose of the day.

"Most of all, we wanna honor our farmers because they had such an impact on the history of our local area," said Jane Varcoe, President of Waymart Area Historical Society.

This weekend’s celebration was the society’s 5th Farmer’s Appreciation Day in Wayne County.
