HAWLEY, Pa. — Main Avenue in Hawley is decked out for the holidays. The Downtown Hawley Partnership is getting ready for the 24th annual Winterfest.
"We're into holiday tradition here in Hawley, and we think we're on the right track because it gets bigger and bigger every year," said Elaine Herzog with the Downtown Hawley Partnership.
The three-day holiday extravaganza brings the holiday-movie feel to Wayne County. From horse-drawn carriage rides, a cookie walk to historical tours, it's sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit.
"There is a myriad of musical acts, crafts shows, both at the Hawley Silk Mill and at the Hawley Hub. We also have two bonfires scheduled," explained Herzog.
The fun kicks off at 10 a.m. Friday. With activities scattered throughout downtown, organizers expect people from all over to come check it out.
"They'll spend the whole weekend here, and they can go to all of the different events that we have, and they'll pop in for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and go around the whole lake region," said Dawn Arnold, owner of Lake Wally Café.
"We actually welcome people to come in, and we do things for free. We have Hawley's North Pole; Mrs. Santa will be there to greet the children when they come in, and it just makes everyone happy," said Madigan.
