WOOLWICH, Maine — A Lewisburg woman was killed in a crash Thursday night in Maine.
According to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office, Margaret J. Daniel, 24, of Lewisburg, was traveling north on U.S. Route 1 in Woolwich, Maine, and attempted to pass multiple vehicles. Daniel's car reportedly collided head-on with another vehicle.
Daniel died at the scene as a result of extensive injuries, according to police.
The other driver, Colby Brown, 28, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, was pinned in his vehicle. He was taken to Maine Medical Center, Portland, by LifeFlight. He sustained multiple broken bones, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Witnesses told police that Daniel's vehicle was passing several vehicles when the collision occurred, and speed was a contributing factor. However, the crash remains under investigation.
