Union County man charged after allegedly hitting wife

UNION COUNTY, Pa. — A man is locked up on Friday night in Union County after allegedly hitting his wife.

A woman, 64, whose name has not been released, was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries after investigators say Robert Kitchens, 66, struck his wife in the back of the head with a metal hammer at their home in Buffalo Township last Saturday. 

Kitchens is in the Union County Jail on attempted homicide and aggravated assault charges.

The woman was released from the hospital on June 24.

Kitchens' preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 2.
