Union County man allegedly steals $800k from employer

Timothy Dowhower of Mifflinburg faces felony theft charges after officials say his former employer noticed an unusual charge on the company credit card.

MIFFLINBURG, Pa. — A Union County man faces felony theft charges after allegedly stealing from their former employer.

43-year-old Timothy Dowhower of Mifflinburg allegedly stole $800,000 from his former employer at the Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau in Milton. According to court papers, Dowhower's former employer noticed an unusual charge for a subscription to a porn site on Dowhower's company credit card.

Further investigation revealed that Dowhower allegedly hired a marketing company, an LLC that belonged to him, to help the visitors bureau in 2018.

From 2018 to this year, the bureau paid the company $150,000 annually.

Officials revealed that Dowhower and the company under which Dowhower's name was registered never did any of the work the visitors bureau thought was getting done.

A preliminary hearing is set for December 19.
