UNION COUNTY, Pa. — Monday was a special day for some veterans in Union County as they were recognized for their service to our country.
In an extension of its Veterans Day ceremony, Riverwoods Senior Living Community paid tribute to its residents who served in the military.
"I love pausing any chance we have to thank our veterans," said executive director Aaron Barth. "They have given so much for our country, not only in their own time, but their impact lasts through the future generations, including my own. So, it's always worth pausing to thank them for their service."
State Representative Stephanie Borowicz presented certificates to all of the veterans.
One of those veterans was 105-year-old Carl Phillips, who served in World War II. Carl's son Jack is proud of his dad.
"It's amazing that he's still with us, and to be able for them to honor him and the rest of the veterans, that's cool. I think it's great," Jack Phillips said.
Jack Snook also served in World War II.
"Oh, I think it's wonderful," he said.
"I thought it was really nice to honor them, and it was so nice to have so many of them here," said Snook's daughter Missy Ferguson. "I was surprised there are three World War II vets. That's really pretty amazing. Dad is 96."
More than two dozen veterans were honored at the event.
