LEWISBURG, Pa. — A woman from  Union County is remembering her late husband on his birthday with random acts of kindness.

Pam Burns of Lewisburg lost her husband, David, in March of 2014 after a long battle with leukemia. David Burns was a longtime taekwondo instructor in central Pennsylvania and would have been 68 years old today.

"He was a warrior in every sense of the word, especially with regard to his fight with leukemia," Pam Burns said. "He had an awesome giving spirit. He did anything for anyone, and he never wanted any accolades for it."

Every year, on David's birthday, Pam celebrates him with random acts of kindness. She started this in 2015 as a way to keep his memory alive.

'There were talks of fundraisers and different things. I thought Dave would be, with such a giving spirit, he would be happy if people just did nice things for each other."

Every year, on David's birthday, October 26, Pam hands out gift cards to various businesses. She includes a card with David's picture, telling people why she's doing it.

Pam encourages others to do a random act of kindness on this day in memory of her husband.

"I've had people hug me. I've had people cry. I've had people just at a loss for words. Last year, one woman did a TikTok."

Gift card recipients were happy in the Dunkin' drive-thru.

"I think it's wonderful, and I think it's great that she's remembering her husband in this way," Alice Bull said. "He was probably a wonderful guy."

Pam says this is a way for David's spirit to live on.
