LEWISBURG -- While the focus on many schools this time of year is football, Lewisburg Area High School is all about soccer. The boys' team plays for the state championship this weekend.
"We have a lot of support, not just in the school but also in the community. A lot of alumni, I think, are coming back for the game. It's really exciting to be playing in the state championship game at Hersheypark Stadium," Logan Cho said.
Lewisburg Area High School is making sure the Green Dragons feel the support. The school held a "green out" where students were encouraged to wear green, and attend a pep rally.
"Just to know that everyone is behind you and wanting you us to win is just awesome, really," Andre Permyashkin said.
The last time Lewisburg won a state championship in soccer was 15 years ago. This team's motto is "humble but hungry."
"We're just trying to keep our nose to the grindstone and get this one last win," Theo Tuzzolino said.
According to the coaches, there are more than 1,100 boys' high school soccer teams in Pennsylvania and Lewisburg is only one of two that's undefeated.
"I think it's becoming a bigger sport for high schools. It's becoming more of like what football is now," Tyler Gerlinski said.
Businesses in the Lewisburg area are showing their support with signs, and Lewisburg High School is bringing a fan bus to and from Hershey.
"We're going to be cheering so loud. We're bringing the dragon bus. We're bringing the whole squad down to Hershey. Everyone's going to be there," Matt Fedorjaka said.
"I've been watching them for the whole season, they're just humble and hungry and they're just out there getting it," Joey Orr said.
The Green Dragons play South Park High School, which is near Pittsburgh, for the state championship. The game is Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Hersheypark Stadium.
