UNION COUNTY, Pa. — Anne Griffin is on the hunt for books for her bookshelf. and for her free little children's library. Griffin comes to the Public Library for Union County's annual book sale every year.
"I love books, I love reading books to my kids—they're grown now, I love reading books to grandkids, I love reading myself it's just something I do all the time, so I'm into it," Anne Griffin, Lewisburg.
The library collects books all year for the sale and there are more than 20,000 titles for readers to browse.
Toni Novosel is the marketing coordinator for the Union County Library System and says people show up in the parking lot hours before the sale opens.
"As soon as we open, people are in, they're ready to get their bags and fill up with books, so it's really nice, I think probably like noon, and later it probably simmers down a little bit, but the mornings get really busy, said Toni Novosel, marketing coordinator at the Union County Library System.
And this sale isn't just good for readers looking for deals; money raised benefits the local library.
"This one specifically is going to help with the catalog that we have in getting new content, new books, and stuff like that," said Novosel.
Shoppers can even fill a bag with books for $25.
"And it goes to a good cause because it goes to the library system which I love the library so it's all good," said Susan Arisumi, Lewisburg.
This is Susan Arisumi's second time coming to the book sale. She's shopping for her grandson.
"And my daughter told me to get lots of books for him so when he visits we can read books--I got a lot, and then I just kind of look around, see if i can find something for me."
The book sale for the Union County Library runs until Saturday.
