Valentine's Day at Field of Screams

Field of Screams is hosting a special Valentine's Day show on February 10th in Mountville.

MOUNTVILLE, Pa. — If you're over being wined and dined for Valentine's Day, How about getting shaken and stirred?

"It's by far our most popular off-season haunts that we do," said Jim Schopf, Field of Screams Founder.

Jim Schopf is the owner of "Field of Screams" in Lancaster County.

The place has been startling society for 31 years, and for the past few off-seasons, it has been offering a terrifying treat for lovers.

"The haunts that you are going to experience at the Valentine's Day show are the Den of Darkness and the Frightmare Asylum," added Schopf. "Which both have been completely re-themed for Valentine's Day, from the sets and the scenes of the decor to the characters and the costumes."

For the hopeless romantics, there will be heaps of hearts, balloons, and roses, even a creepy cupid or two.

"The actors may try to steal your heart, or even your valentine, I don't know. It's a cool date night because people come as couples for Valentine's Day; maybe it's one way to get your girlfriend closer to you, I don't know," Schopf said.

There's lots of love to go around, especially from the actors, who are all volunteers.

"That's one of the things that sets the Field of Screams apart from other haunts is the passion that our actors and staff have. They're here for the reason just to scare the crap out of you," added Schopf.

On Saturday, you'll find more than just scares here.

"We have all our games open, we have our escape rooms open, our two haunted houses, two food trucks, and our chainsaw bar, which is new this season, and we have special themed love drinks with the candy hearts on the top," said Schopf.

Chainsaw bar? Newswatch 16 had to ask.

We asked if there were people running around with chainsaws in the bar.

"Well, there are people running around with chainsaws, but we keep them out of the bar because we don't want spilled drinks," Schopf said.

You can still buy tickets for Saturday night's show, and if you miss this haunt, there's always something for the luck of the Irish.

"We're gonna trade out our hearts and roses for trolls and leprechauns and those sorts of nasty little creatures, " added Schopf.

The Saint Patrick's Day show at Field of Screams near Lancaster will be on March 16th.
