Warming shelters open in Susquehanna, Union Counties amid power outages

As the temperatures continue to drop, officials have opened warming shelters in Susquehanna and Union Counties.

SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY, Pa. — As the strong wind gusts cause power outages throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania, warming shelters have opened in Susquehanna and Union counties.

For folks in the northern tier without power, there were two warming shelters open in Susquehanna County to get warm.

There was also one at the Susquehanna Fire Department; both were open from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The Susquehanna warming station will not be open on Monday since the power in that area has since been restored.

The Union Dale station will be open Monday from 9 a.m. to noon and again from 6 to 9 p.m. if needed.

These warming shelters are hosted by the Susquehanna County EMA.

In Union County, a warming shelter was open at the Red Cross location along Farley Circle in Lewisburg.

In Northumberland County, a warming shelter will be open at the Stonington Fire Company on Route 61 in Sunbury beginning at noon on Monday.
